Status: Available now. Miraa can send transactional email — for example, communications to patients and notifications to clinicians.
What it’s for
Email is used for communications such as patient messages and clinician notifications. It supports the workflow — for example, a follow-up or reminder — without replacing clinical judgment.
What data may be exchanged
Emails can contain personal information and, depending on content, limited clinical information. Keep clinical detail in emails to the minimum necessary.
Email is not a secure clinical channel. Don’t send sensitive clinical detail by email that shouldn’t travel that way. A patient reminder should say enough to act on, not disclose a diagnosis. See Australian privacy.
Setup requirements
Email sending is part of the platform. Clinic-level communication preferences may control how and when patient emails are sent. See Clinic settings.
User permissions required
Sending patient communications may be governed by role and clinic settings. Any message involving clinical judgment should be reviewed by a clinician.
Operational cautions
- Right recipient. Check the email address before sending patient communications.
- Approval for clinical content. Clinical messages are drafts until a clinician approves them.
- Automation with care. Automated reminders help with routine communication, but sensitive or high-risk messages should be handled by a person.
Troubleshooting
- Patient didn’t receive an email? Check the address, and check spam. Delivery can also fail for external reasons.
- Not sure whether a message was sent? Check the record of communication for that patient. Needs confirmation
